For decades, civil rights leaders have called on white people to organize against racism and white supremacy in our own communities. We founded The Barnraisers Project because it’s well past time that we heeded that call and moved past the twin traps of polite silence and social media rock fights. Barnraisers is launching as a one-person labor of love. With your support, though, we hope to grow our crew of organizers (and then you can come back here to celebrate as the term "team" becomes more accurate). That’s Garrett, our founder. A barn raising, also historically called a raising bee or rearing in the U.K., is a collective action of a community, in which a barn for one of the members is built or rebuilt collectively by members of the community.
